Ministry Servants (Missionaries) Needed
Positions for individuals or married couple of good moral character, mature Christian faith and a demonstrated track record of Christian service are now available!
Job Description: Many specific duties will depend upon the particular gifts and abilities those called to this ministry, but will include working people of all ages, especially with children and youth along the Sarapiquí and San Juan Rivers of northern Costa Rica. This will include offering educational programs to the community to include literacy, tutoring, and after-school programs, as well as fellowship activities and Bible studies.
Requirements: Must be willing to become part of the community, to nurture relationships, to offer your time and talents as well as help others to discover their own unique gifts. Must be willing to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, sharing the good news both in word and in deed. Must be dedicated to spiritual disciplines such as Bible study, prayer and meditation. Must feel called to this type of ministry.
Qualifications: Must be able to lead as well as to follow and be willing to function as part of a team, be very flexible and willing to pitch in wherever needed. Fluency in Spanish at at least an intermediate level is highly desirable, as is a commitment to become more fluent once on site. Cultural sensitivity and a willingness to learn from those who live in the region is required. Must have a capacity to love, for you cannot share God’s love if you yourself cannot love.
Denominationalism needs to be left home—Jesus commands that we love one another, and that we be one, so that the world might know that God had sent him to the world (John 17). It is a command that SIGA tries to live, and it is our primary “strategy” for accomplishing the will of God in this little part of the world.
Living Conditions: Running water generally available, but luxuries such as air conditioning and hot showers generally not. Must be able to get by on a small budget and be happy about it.
A one-year commitment is preferred; shorter commitments will be considered. Commitment is the key word, no matter what the length of time may be.
