Welcome to SIGA Ministry Partners’ website!
The word “siga” in Spanish means “follow,” and “SIGA” is also an acronym that represents who we are and our model for ministry, as we follow the example of Jesus Christ as his Servants In Grace Abounding.
We are called to be “ministers of encouragement” by sharing the love of Jesus Christ among neglected people living in remote regions of Latin America. Our current outreach initiatives are in the tropical jungle along the Sarapiquí and San Juan Rivers of northern Costa Rica near the Nicaraguan border. In this remote region of the world, the people are neglected, poor, and uneducated. We give them hope by sharing the “full gospel of Jesus” by ministering to the whole person—socially, economically, physically, and spiritually. If we only speak good news and do not also demonstrate it in tangible ways, as the epistle of James says, ‘What good is it?’
Our partners represent a variety of denominational affiliations (or no affiliation at all). Jesus prayed (John 17) that Christians would love one another, for it is by our love for God and our love for one another as the resurrected Body of Christ that the world would know that Jesus was sent from God! At SIGA we believe that when we serve as co-servants of the risen Lord, we learn to celebrate our common bonds, as well appreciate as our diversity, and by doing this we more fully represent the God we worship.
